Huge Fire Erupts at Warehouse in Iraq’s Karbala
According to Iraqi media reports, the blaze ripped through the warehouse in the Bab al-Khan district in central Karbala, Al-Sumaria News reported.
The Karbala Governorate’s civil defense department said in a statement that the fire has reached three adjacent hotels on Al-Alqami Street.
The street is near the holy shrine of Hazrat Abbas (AS).
It said teams of firefighters have been dispatched to the scene to extinguish the fire.
Reports suggest that four people have been locked in the warehouse.
Meanwhile an official with Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization said no Iranian pilgrims has been injured in the incident.
Hossein Fazli said a number of Iranian pilgrims were staying at one of the hotels but they were evacuated before the fire reached the building.
